Railway Car Inspector

Salary: $23.72 to $26.12 hourly

Position Summary: In this role you will be responsible for inspecting and repairing railcars to ensure compliance with safety regulations. Railcar repairs may include welding, replacing, straightening, and fabricating and painting components. Duties: · Examines railcar components for structural defects and obstructions.. · Operate handheld scanner.. · Turns hand wheel to test brakes and ascertain that they are in operating condition.. · Inspects and tests air hoses for leakage.. · Inspects wheel trucks for dragging equipment.. · Prepares reports on findings.. · Remove and replace couplers, airline gaskets, hoses, or other components.. · Paint cars and components.. · Inspect, repair, or replace steel sections.. · Straighten or fabricate, then replace steel parts.. · Operate acetylene torches for cutting and/or shaping metals parts and operate electrical and gas welding equipment.. · Operate forklifts, Scissor Lifts, and other shop equipment.. · Working at heights training. · Working in
