District of Elkford Heavy Duty Mechanic Permanent, Full-time, Benefitted Position Overview The District of Elkford is seeking a permanent full-time heavy-duty mechanic or commercial transport mechanic in the Public Works Department to the district. Under the general direction of the Director of Engineering and Public Works, the Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic's primary responsibility is to oversee and conduct a wide range of skilled maintenance, repair, and technical work on District fleet. This position supervises mechanical contractors and is responsible for planning, scheduling, organizing, assigning, overseeing, and assisting in all work performed, while showcasing pride in the fleet to the public and employees. The incumbent provides input and assists in the development and execution of policies, procedures, and practices to improve the function and safety of the department's day-to-day duties.
