The Green Roof Maintenance Technician is responsible for the ongoing care, inspection, and upkeep of extensive and intensive green roof systems across commercial, residential, and institutional properties. Working outdoors in a dynamic environment, this role ensures the long-term health, safety, and performance of living roof systems throughout the Ottawa region. Key Responsibilities: Conduct scheduled inspections of green roof systems to assess plant health, drainage performance, and structural integrity. Perform seasonal planting, weeding, pruning, and replanting of sedum, native grasses, wildflowers, and other green roof vegetation. Monitor and maintain irrigation systems, including drip lines, moisture sensors, and drainage layers. Remove invasive species, debris, and accumulated organic matter from roof surfaces and drainage points. Apply approved fertilizers, soil amendments, and pest/disease treatments as needed.
