Agricultural Land Commission Chief Executive OfficerTHE PROGRAM The Agricultural Land Commission (ALC or Commission) is an independent administrative tribunal established under the Agricultural Land Commission Act (the ?ALC Act?). The Commission is responsible for protecting agricultural land in British Columbia and for exercising decision-making authority related to land use within the Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR). The purposes of the Commission, as set out in legislation, are to preserve agricultural land; to encourage farming on agricultural land in collaboration with other communities of interest; and to encourage local governments, First Nations, the Province, and their agents to enable and accommodate farm use of agricultural land, and uses compatible with agriculture, in their plans, bylaws, and policies.
